Exceptional late-September rainfall triggered widespread floods and landslides across 21 districts, including Kathmandu Valley. The United Nations in Nepal records 246 deaths and approximately 2.9 million people affected. The Government of Nepal's preliminary loss and damage assessment estimated losses of about NPR 46.68 billion across infrastructure, social and productive sectors.
